Sunday 9th April 4:00PM
Bringing the 7th season of the Bolshoi Ballet in Cinema series to an end, A Hero of Our Time can only be seen on the Moscow stage. Take your seat at the Vyne Theatre, Berkhamsted to join the action live from The Bolshoi Theatre.
Adapted from a masterpiece of Russian literature by Mikhail Possokhov, it relates the romantic encouters and heartbreaking betrayals of larger-than-life hero Petchorin, in a poetic journey across the mountains of the Caucasus on a path set by his passionate encounters. Disillusioned and careless, he inflicts pain upon himself and the women around him…
This new production brings together choreographer Yuri Possokhov, who studied at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, and young composer Ilya Demutsky who weaves a dramatic yet poetic score around Lermontov’s tales of unrequited love. Kirill Serebrennikov, often called “the enfant terrible” of contemporary Russian theatre, signs off the libretto and scenography.
